At Horn Park, Forest School plays an important part in the learning experience of every child across the school. Through a hands-on experience in an outdoor learning environment, it develops their understanding of the natural world whilst building confidence and self-esteem. In their directed exploration, children develop to be active citizens in the environment and to understand the natural world they live in.
In Year 5 this week, children looked at the artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser. He believed nature to be our most precious asset and the source of universal harmony, rejecting straight lines, because these do not exist in the natural world. Children studied his works as well as their environment and created their own pieces of art, describing the juxtaposition between physical and human features and how they visually represent the balance of nature within the world we live in.
