We had a great first meeting of the Compass Council last week, and received a warm welcome from the South Rise Compass Council members, who were hosting the meeting. The children shared the opportunities they had had to experience the 11 before 11 in their schools.

Horn Park perform at the London Youth Games

Last week, Horn Park choir had the fantastic opportunity to perform at the London Youth Games which took place at Borough Village in Crystal Palace Park. Alongside them were other schools from around London who performed several acts from ballet to freestyle break dancing! The children were inspired by the other performances they watched and had the opportunity to make friends and share in their passion for performing.

Deansfield Chamber Choir

Our Deansfield Chamber Choir had an amazing day last Wednesday (3rd July) representing Deansfield at the world-famous International Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales. Top choirs from all over the world have been coming to compete since 1947. This was Deansfield’s fourth visit, and the standard was especially high this year.

Compass Council “11 before 11”

The Compass Council met last week, at the University of Greenwich, to further explore their idea of the ‘11 before 11’: the eleven experiences that they believe that all children attending a Compass School should have before they leave at 11 years. Children from our Willow Dene secondary school have added a further five experiences to become the ‘16 before 16’.

Compass Sports Day

On Thursday 13th June, the Compass Partnership of Schools met for their second collective Sports Day event. The day was a tremendous success and was enjoyed by all. The children demonstrated values such as kindness, unity and respect, as they competed in several events throughout the course of the day.
